Those who enjoy getting out in nature for hiking or biking cancheck out a new website that offers maps and photos of therecreational trails in Jefferson County.
Created by web designer Jim Meyer, the site contains usefulinformation and state-of-the-art virtual reality panoramas. Userswith high-speed Internet connections can view 360-degree panoramas ofvarious locations in the trail system.
The site opens with an overview map of the Jefferson County trailsystems. Links along the left take users to areas of the website thatfocus on the various trail segments: the Fairfield Loop Trail, CedarView Trail, the North Segment, the Jefferson County Park Trails,Lamson Woods, and Chautauqua Park. There are also links toinformation on two trails in the planning stage, the Heritage Trailand Water Trail.
The site offers news on the latest developments, information forvolunteers, and a master plan that documents the history and visionfor the trail system, a vision that includes an alternate system oftravel for Fairfield.
The site lets users choose between still images, best for thosewith slow, dial-up Internet connections, and QuickTime VirtualReality panoramas for those with high-speed connections. The trailswebsite is www.jeffersoncountytrails.org.
